Currently (end of July, 2020), students are rising up in flashmobs by the thousands in all provinces of Thailand demanding democracy and an end to oppressive dictatorship, and Thais are openly questioning the monarchy on social media. In this context, a video of this popular old song, got blocked (in Thailand). Why, was it blocked, I wonder?

“I do it for the country,” when in fact it’s done for money
สังคมผุพัง เพราะอำนาจเงินสั่งมา
Society decays and collapses because of the power money commands
*Word for word, “faces calloused, faces black.” “Black” is probably a metaphor for evil, as in “black-hearted,” which is a saying in Thai and English. And “callous-faced” means “shameless,” like they are so thick-skinned they don’t care what you think of them; they don’t care about saving face or preserving their good reputation.
