ถ้าสังเกตหน่อยจะเห็นว่า ในช่วงปีหลังๆมานี้ ผมไม่ได้เขียนเพลงในเชิงเสียดสีหรือโจมตีคนระดับมวลชนที่เห็นต่างแล้ว แม้แต่ใส่ไว้ในบางช่วงของเพลงก็ไม่มี ไม่เหมือนช่วงแรกๆที่เริ่มเขียนเพลง ซึ่งก็ถือว่ามีน้อยอยู่ดี (อย่างน้อยก็เฉพาะในส่วนของผมนะ ส่วนคนอื่นในวงก็อีกเรื่อง) โดยผมจะเน้นโจมตีเฉพาะคนมีอำนาจในระดับบนๆเท่านั้น เช่น สถาบันกษัตริย์, คณะรัฐประหาร เป็นต้น
If you’ve noticed in the past years I don’t write songs that make fun of or attack that class of people who see things differently. I don’t even do it sometimes. This isn’t like the period when I just started writing songs, which I believe had a little bit of this, but anyway . . . (I’m speaking for myself; as for the other people in the band, that’s another story). And so I emphasize attacking specific persons who have power in the upper class only, for instance the monarchy or the junta.
ในส่วนของเนื้อเพลงผมจะเน้นสร้างความรู้สึกร่วมมากกว่า โดยจะไม่เบลมคนเห็นต่างในระดับมวลชน เผื่อว่าเขาจะรู้สึกร่วมในการต่อต้านเผด็จการกษัตริย์นิยมได้บ้าง แม้จะยาก เพราะหากโจมตีคนระดับที่ว่า โอกาสที่เขาจะมาเห็นด้วยยิ่งยากไปใหญ่ เพราะเท่ากับจัดวางให้เขาเป็นศัตรู ทั้งๆที่ศัตรูจริงๆของเราควรจะเป็นเฉพาะคนที่มีอำนาจรัฐ คนที่ควบคุมระบบและกลไกต่างๆของรัฐ อย่างในเพลง “พิษรัฐประหาร” ผมจะไม่เขียนเลยว่าพวกที่กวักมือเรียกหรือแม้แต่สนับสนุนรัฐประหารแม่งชั่ว บลาๆๆ แต่ผมจะเขียนโจมตีไปที่คณะรัฐประหารเลยว่าคุณวางแผนกันมายังไง หลังทำรัฐประหารแล้วสังคมได้รับผลเสียอะไรบ้าง ให้คนฟังได้เห็นภาพ และแอบจูงใจคนที่เคยหลงผิดให้กลับมาในทางที่ควรจะเป็นด้วยท่อนที่ว่า
As for my own songs, the focus will be more on creating a feeling of participation and I won’t blame the large set of people who see things differently because I want them to be willing to feel they are joining somewhat in the opposition to the dictatorship and the monarchy. Even if this is hard. Because if I attack a class of people, the opportunity to get them to see things my way becomes more and more difficult. Because I’d be setting them up to be enemies. Even if they really are my enemies, it’s probably only because of those people who have state power, who control the system and the various mechanisms of the state. As in the song, “พิษรัฐประหาร” (“Coup Poison”), I totally don’t write that those who call for the coup or support the coup are [expletive] evil, blah, blah, blah . . . But I will write totally attacking the junta, saying “How have you been planning this out together? After this coup, what damages will society suffer?” I want people to listen and get the picture. And I want to quietly persuade people who were misled to return to the path they should be on, with this section:
“ผ่านมาหลายปี เห็นมีแต่ความตกต่ำ ประชาชนต้องชอกช้ำ ไม่เว้นแม้คนเคยอวย ประเทศไทยยากจน คณะรัฐประหารร่ำรวย คนเบื้องหลังยิ่งโคตรรวย คนซวยคือประชาชน”
“For many years now, we see only deterioration. The people must be bruised and broken. Not excluding even the people who permitted Thailand be impoverished. The junta is rich. The people behind it even more extremely rich. The unlucky people are the citizens.”
คนเคยอวยก็เลิกอวยได้ครับ ช่วงนั้นคนเคยอวยคสช.ก็หันมาด่าคสช.กันจริงๆด้วย ผมดูจากกระแสเลย ไม่ได้เมคเรื่องขึ้นมาเอง หรืออย่างในเพลง “..โชคดีที่มีคนไทย” ผมก็ชี้ให้เห็นเลยว่าตลอด 70 ปีที่ครองอำนาจของอดีตกษัตริย์ภูมิพลได้ทำเรื่องเลวร้ายอะไรไว้บ้าง ที่คนไทยทั่วไปอาจจะไม่รู้ หรือรู้แต่ไม่สามารถบอกเล่าเป็นเพลงได้ หลังการเสียชีวิตของเขาจึงมีแต่เพลงอวยอย่างเดียว ดังนั้นผมจึงจำเป็นต้องเขียนเพลงที่นำเสนอความจริงอีกด้านบ้าง ให้มันมีบันทึกไว้ในประวัติศาสตร์ของวงการเพลง ในเพลงผมก็ไม่ได้เบลมรอยัลลิสต์ที่เห็นต่าง แต่เขียนให้เขาเห็นถึงความเลวร้ายของกษัตริย์และระบอบราชาธิปไตย หากเขาเห็นแล้วก็ขอให้เลิกรักกษัตริย์เสีย และหันมารักประชาชนผู้ถูกระบอบกษัตริย์กดขี่แทน คุณเองก็ถูกกดขี่ ถูกบังคับให้รัก ที่คุณแสดงออกว่ารักในหลวง เพราะคุณรักในหลวงจริงๆ หรือเพราะคุณเลือกแสดงออกในทางอื่นไม่ได้
The people who previously blessed something can stop giving it their blessing. In that period, many people who had invited the National Council for Peace and Order then turned around and really scolded them. I didn’t make this matter rise up myself [?] Or in the song “..โชคดีที่มีคนไทย” (“. . . Lucky to Have the Thai People”) I point out, for people to see, what sorts of bad things former King Bhumbol did throughout his 70 year reign, which Thai people generally might not know. Or they might know but not be allowed to say it in a song. After his death, there was only one kind of song, the songs blessing him. And so it was necessary for me to write a song that brings up some other part of the truth, so that it would be recorded in the history of that group of songs. In my songs, I don’t blame the royalists who think differently but I write so they will be able to see the evil of the king and monarchy. But if they see, I ask that they stop loving the king and instead turn to loving the people who have been oppressed by the king. I myself have been oppressed. I have been forced to love. That you express your love for the king, is it because you really love the king or because you don’t have the choice to expresses yourself in any other way?

แม้แต่ในการโพสหรือทวีตประจำวัน ผมก็พยายามเลี่ยงสิ่งเหล่านี้ อย่างมากก็วิจารณ์และตั้งคำถามให้ฉุกคิด ถ้ายังคิดไม่ได้ก็ปล่อย เข้าใจว่าของแบบนี้มันไม่ง่ายและต้องใช้เวลา ให้คนได้คิดได้เรียนรู้กันไป เสียงเรามันแค่เสียงเล็กๆ ในขณะที่เสียงของผู้มีอำนาจเขาดังมาก เพราะเขามีสื่อและหลักสูตรการศึกษาครอบงำ 24 ชั่วโมงตั้งแต่เกิดยันตายอยู่ในมือและควบคุมบงการได้เต็มที่ รวมถึงกฎหมายและอำนาจมืดปิดปากประชาชน
Whether in posting or tweeting every day, I try to avoid this thing. At most I criticize and set up questions to cause a realization. If [they] still can’t think, let it go. I understand things like this aren’t easy and must take time. Have people think and learn together some more. Our voices are just a small sound, while the voices of those in power are loud because they the news and lessons 24 hours a day from one’s birth to one’s death are totally under their control. They use even the law and dark power to shut the mouths of the people.
